What is the definition of a renewable resource?

What is the definition of a renewable resource?

First and foremost, a definition of the word is required to evaluate if bamboo is a renewable resource — this one comes from Investopedia. "A substance of economic value that can be renewed or refilled in the same amount of time or less than it takes to deplete the supply" is how a renewable resource is described. Solar energy, wind energy, and geothermal pressure are examples of renewable resources that have an almost limitless supply, whereas wood, oxygen, leather, and fish are examples of renewable resources that require some time or work to replace. Even though precious metals are not naturally renewed, they can be recycled since they are not damaged during their extraction and usage."

Bamboo grows swiftly.

Bamboo is a renewable resource in part because to its rapid growth. Bamboo grows faster than the bulk of other trees and plants from which we extract useful fibres. Bamboo is a woody grass that thrives in hot, humid environments, particularly in southern Asia. In a single twenty-four-hour period, a single culm of bamboo has grown 39 inches — that's more than one inch every hour! The bulk of trees used to make furniture, paper, and other products require anywhere from 20 to 120 years to achieve maturity. Bamboo, on the other hand, matures and is ready to harvest in as little as two years from the time it first sprouts. Bamboo's quick growth can be linked to the fact that it is a grass rather than a shrub or tree.

Bamboo is a self-sustaining plant.

Comparing bamboo to cotton is one of the most straightforward methods to understand how renewable a resource bamboo is. Every year, more than 256 Gm3 (one cubic gigameter equals one billion cubic metres of water, or 2.64 x 1029 gallons) of water is required to grow enough cotton to make the numerous cotton goods that are popular today. Bamboo just need a third of the water that a cotton plant does. The most fascinating aspect of all of this is that bamboo does not require irrigation or fertilisers to flourish. Cotton, on the other hand, is farmed with around 25% of the world's insecticides and 12% of the world's pesticides on just 3% of the world's acreage. Bamboo can be cultivated with little to no irrigation, herbicides, or fertiliser, making it a great crop for textiles.

There are also more reasons why bamboo is a long-term resource.

Unlike other harvested plants, bamboo harvesting does not result in soil erosion. Because the root system is left intact, it does not cause soil erosion, and the bamboo may grow again and be ready for harvest utilising the same root system. Furthermore, a bamboo forest the size of a grove of trees will create 35 percent more oxygen than the trees. The production of more oxygen reduces global warming and other environmental issues. Bamboo also sequesters 70% more carbon per year than a similar-sized grove of trees, resulting in an extremely low carbon footprint for the plant — a carbon footprint that may even be deemed negative because the plant removes carbon from the environment.

Shelves that float with a "Floating TV" - Patents To Retail

Adding floating shelves around your tv is a terrific method to balance the importance of your tv in your overall decor. Floating shelves assist to integrate your TV into the general decor of your space, avoiding the "black box look" that flat screen TVs sometimes provide. Another significant benefit of floating shelves is that they are an excellent maximum impact/low risk design solution. You have complete flexibility to add, delete, and rearrange your shelf décor once you've selected how you want them to be organised.

There are a plethora of methods to arrange shelves around your TV, as seen in the photographs below, and there's only one hard-and-fast guideline to follow: your shelves should be at least somewhat longer than the horizontal length of your TV screen. With a few extra inches of shelf on either side of your TV, the design seems more grounded and functional, rather than like your TV is wearing a hat.

Should you buy or do it yourself?

You should have no trouble locating floating shelves that match your area because they come in a number of sizes. IKEA, West Elm, and even Target have a wide range of possibilities – many at very cheap prices – and this is also a terrific DIY project if you're looking for something to do with your tools. This step-by-step guide from America's Dr. Organizer's walks you through everything you'll need to know about building and installing your own shelves.

Choosing a Location for Your Shelves

As previously said, the only component of this project that is permanent is determining where you want to put your shelves, and even that is only semi-permanent. You can always change your shelves if you don't like how they're set up, but you can save yourself the trouble by using painter's tape to plan out where they'll look best. You'll be able to place your shelves precisely where you want them before they're installed.

It's a good idea to ask yourself a few questions to help you figure out your perfect shelf arrangement: Do you prefer a more classic or eclectic look?

The focus of traditional designs is usually on consistency and balance. Keeping your shelves consistent with your overall classic style means arranging them symmetrically, as illustrated in the image below.

Shelves Floating Above the TV

The staggered design of the shelves will suit your more avant garde approach to décor if you like a more eclectic style.

How to Style Floating Shelves Around a tv

Another thing to consider is if you are a maximalist or a minimalist.

You're a real maximalist if you have a lot of things you want to show off and would struggle to get rid of even a handful of them. This means you'll need a lot of shelf space to fit all of the accessories you'll be collecting. A practical technique to establish a balance between the shelves and your TV is to place two shelves above it and one below it.

Shelves Floating Around the TV

If you prefer a more minimalist approach, a single shelf behind your TV is the ideal way to give a slight burst of visual interest.

Underneath the TV, a Floating Shelf

Adding Accents to Your Floating Shelves

Let's move on to the exciting part: decorating.

If you're anything like me, you have a collection of trinkets strewn about the house - souvenirs from sun-drenched trips, cherished pictures, family heirlooms, and those items that just make you smile when you see them.

Perhaps the nicest thing about floating shelves is that they allow you to organise your trinkets into an unified collection. You gather them together to create a design that compliments your taste and tells a narrative, rather than scattering them across the house.

Grab a few of your favourite items: framed pictures, tiny art prints, vases or pottery, plants, candles, candlesticks, and any other objets de curiosité. Make sure you have a variety of heights, materials, and sizes.

To add visual appeal, stack and layer your accessories now that you have them. You may just stack objects on top of one other to achieve varied levels of height. Books are fantastic for adding height, and when topped off with a tiny accent item like a miniature plant or a glittering agate or geode, they provide a lovely "completed" impression.

Using Floating Shelves to Decorate Around the TV

Stagger pieces to create depth by placing some slightly ahead of others. Medium-sized works of art are useful in this situation (think 8x10 or 11x14). You may prop them against the wall and then place a vase or bowl in front of them to create depth.

How to Adorn Floating Shelves Around a TV

Play around with rearranging, adding, and deleting objects until you're satisfied with the results.

Make sure you have your phone with you so you can capture pictures as you go. This manner, you can compare what you had five minutes ago to what you have now, without having to duplicate earlier work.

Installing Shelves: Some Pointers

You'll want to make sure your shelves are well-secured against the wall. You may either put your hardware straight into the wall studs or use wall anchors if you need additional positioning options.

Use a stud finder to identify your wall studs and mark the position of your studs with a pencil if you'll be mounting your shelves into studs. In most cases, studs are spaced 16 or 24 inches apart.

Next, mark out where you want your shelves to go using your painter's tape and a pencil. Make sure your line is straight by using a level.

Drill your pilot holes and install your anchors using an electric drill if you're using wall anchors. Next, use a screw driver to put your screws into the wall anchors to secure the interior shelf support bracket to the wall. Once the floating shelf exterior slips over it, this element will be hidden.

If you're attaching your shelf directly to the studs, skip the wall anchor step and use an electric drill and screws to secure your internal shelf bracket to the studs.

After you've secured your bracket to the wall, slip the shelf's outer support bracket over the inner support bracket and stand back to admire your work.

Shelves that float with a "Floating TV"

Now is a wonderful time to install your TV if you've been considering it. I mean, you've got your tool belt on. In addition, the tools needed to attach a TV are the same as those needed to install a floating shelf.

Not only is it more practical to take care of these objects all at once, but the floating effect of a mounted TV mimics the appearance of floating shelves, elevating the beauty of your shelf configuration to new heights.

The middle of your TV should be roughly 42 inches from the floor for a pleasant viewing angle. If you need to put your TV higher, a tilting TV mount is a terrific option to obtain a better view of the screen since it allows you to tilt it downward to relieve neck strain.

We understand that mounting a TV may appear to be a daunting task, but if you can install floating shelves, mounting a TV should be a breeze for you – and it only takes 30 minutes! This step-by-step tutorial will lead you through the whole process, from selecting the correct mount style to installing it.

Our Mount Finder tool also tells you which mounts are compatible with your specific TV model, and our Height Finder tool shows you just how high to mount your TV on the wall, removing the guesswork. So you'll be able to relax and enjoy your newly installed TV in no time.

The Role of Patents in the eCommerce Industry - Explore By Patents Retail

A patent is an intellectual property right provided to an inventor for a short time in exchange for public disclosure of the innovation when the patent is issued - "to prevent others from creating, using, offering for sale, selling, or importing the invention." Utility, design, and plant patents are the three sorts of patents to examine.

Patents are crucial in a variety of industries because to the high level of competition and innovation. ECommerce patents cover the process of buying or selling something at a physical store or over the internet. They can be used to defend a variety of online business practises. Some patents cover specific processes or technologies that make electronic purchases faster, easier, and more enjoyable for consumers. Sales and Purchasing Techniques, Online Auctions, Consumer Reward Systems, Financial Transactions, Advertising, Infrastructure and Directories, and Search Engines are only a few of the categories covered by eCommerce patents.

Because of the amount of licencing, contracting out, outsourcing, and strategic alliances involved in eCommerce, patents are critical. Patents aid eCommerce businesses in a variety of ways, including recording new ideas, blocking competing patents on comparable developments, increasing firm valuation and reputation, and becoming a source of royalties in licencing contracts. Amazon, for example, holds one of the most well-known development and business software patents in the world, "One Click," which allows users to purchase things with only one click. Amazon filed a preliminary injunction against Barnes & Nobles Inc. in October 1999, alleging infringement of Amazon's "One Click" patent. However, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the District Court's judgement in February 2001, holding that Amazon.com was not entitled to a preliminary injunction, demonstrating the necessity of patenting a technology or innovation in the eCommerce industry.

An eCommerce company that accepts business method payments might easily outsource some of its products to improve profits. Sightsound.com, for example, was granted a patent in 1993 for obtaining digital music via the internet. Sightsound later sued CDNow for patent infringement and requested royalties from other internet sites that download digital film or music, such as MP3.com.

The fundamental reason for the increase of eCommerce patents is that business method patents can provide monopoly rights over vital business techniques while simultaneously providing significant value through long-term competitive advantage.

Priceline.com's "Reverse Auction" patent, commonly known as the "name your own price" bidding system, is an example of this. It enables online customers to set a price for products or services that they are willing to pay. Priceline.com sued Expedia.com, a travel website, in October 1999 for infringing on Priceline.com's "Reverse Auction" patent.

ECommerce patents such as online and offline integration; curation, customisation, and personalisation; virtual currencies; and commerce via TV and other gadgets will boost the relevance of patents in the eCommerce industry more than ever in the future.

Examining eCommerce patents allows us to gain a better understanding of the complex industrial needs that lead to unique inventions. Because patent systems are created as an incentive to innovate, they also notify us about the value of the concept and financial rewards of innovations. They also push us to improve design processes, which are at the heart of the industry's technology, as well as identify alternative solutions.

At Blueocean Market Intelligence, where our scope of work includes inquisitively producing market intelligence for diversified industries such as eCommerce, by integrating various resources and collating information from various sources, we have been studying eCommerce patents to understand their intricacies, with respect to the above-mentioned points, as well as how they are changing the dynamics of the industry taking into account, evolving through innovations and

The Blueocean patent study sheds light on the scope and method adopted by several of the world's leading eCommerce companies in patenting their processes and technologies. We clustered the study around different services included within, pointing appropriately at the importance of patents at an intricate level, based on our evolving understanding of the industry and patents.

We'll take a closer look at patents and the eCommerce industry in our next blog, which will include a complete market study.
